The Centre for Logic, Epistemology, and the History of Science (CLE) will host, from May 5-9 2025, the Third RatioLog Workshop: Logic, Rationality, and Probability, a thematic event sponsored by CLE, Northeastern University, and FAPESP.
This workshop will explore the deep connections between logic, probability theory, and theories of rationality. Topics include various generalizations of logic—such as many-valued, fuzzy, intuitionistic, paraconsistent, and modal logics—and extensions of probability, including credal calculi, belief functions, and alternative axiomatics.
Participants will also examine the interplay between these frameworks and their applications in philosophy, linguistics, artificial intelligence, and the philosophy of science and mathematics. Additional areas of focus include social choice theory, decision theory, game theory, Bayesian epistemology, and other disciplines closely linked to rationality.
This edition will feature in-depth tutorials and two short courses aimed at graduate and undergraduate students, fostering engagement and discussion among researchers working on logic, rationality, and probability.
