The CLE, planned and organized in 1976, was officially established in the UNICAMP in 1977 by Professor Oswaldo Porchat Pereira, having professors and researchers of several Institutes of the UNICAMP and of other Brazilian and foreign universities as members.
Created with the main goal of developing activities in the area of Logic, Epistemology and the History of Science as well as interdisciplinary research, the CLE has intensive academic interchange with Brazilian and foreign researchers and institutions; regularly organizes scientific seminars and meetings; coordinates research work; counsels on interdisciplinary postgraduate courses; takes care of a bibliographical and documental acervus and promotes the publication of two journals and of a book collection.
