Resumo
“This book is a collection of articles dealing with some of the most fundamental logical concepts: truth, proof, decidability, paradox, quantifier, negation etc. It contains a wide variety of views on these and other topics.
In modern logic, logical concepts have received a plurality of approaches, which are evolving over time. On the one hand, logical concepts can be studied independently of any applied matter. On the other hand, logic has been established as a very interesting tool for philosophical reasoning. As a matter of fact, logic is connected both with mathematics and philosophy. We have tried to reflect this multiplicity, as the reader can check reading the articles here.
We have assembled a good collection of very distinguished works by people from all around the world proposing challenging ideas and developing new techniques. We have tried to combine logicians from the old school together with newcomers in the logical scenario, hoping this connection to be useful.
This book is of interest for logicians, whether they are philosophers, computer scientists, linguists or mathematicians.”
