A identidade e o paradoxo da análise

Abstract

The Paradox of Analysis and the Antinomy of the Name-Relation are two arguments commonly used to reveal some paradoxical aspects involved in the notion of “identity”. In this paper we aim to investigate three elements that have engendered the construction of these paradoxes, analyze their inter-connections and determine their constraining role in the constitution of any semantic theory. Our broader aim will be to establish whether Frege’s solution to the problem can be considered final, or whether Wittgenstein, Carnap and Quine are all correct in still seeing deep fundamental problems in the notion of “identity”.
